Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012 when she released five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release new music through the internet including Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. Later in the calendar, her songs circulated around Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. In November, she dropped her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was released with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over 3 million times within the first seven days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
